Hyundai Mobis has effectively developed the world’s first panorama sunroof airbag system, which reduces injuries by preventing passengers from being thrown out of the car roof during an accident.
Airbags inside cars are intended to secure your head, neck, and chest in the event of a smash. Later plans offer extra security for your knees and sides. Presently Hyundai has taken the innovation up and indent with what it claims is the world’s first display sunroof airbag framework.
Hyundai reported that it had effectively built up the sunroof-based airbag in the organization with parts provider Hyundai Mobis, the Korean car company’s parts and service unit.
Designed to upgrade safety in case of a rollover in which the vehicle’s occupants could spill out of the car or bang their head, the specially designed airbag deploys from the back part of the sunroof and fully inflates in just 0.08 seconds.
“It looks like the drape airbag that is sent near the windows of the vehicle in a broadside crash,” Hyundai clarifies.“If the turning angle of the vehicle is changed due to a rollover accident, the sensor detects it, and the inflator deploys the airbag.”
The carmaker says the design of its panorama sunroof airbag system is “more complex” than ordinary airbags. This likely refers to the fact that it fits inside a compact space and deploys even when the sunroof is closed. In such a case, the airbag opens between the sunroof glass and the sun shield.
Currently, there is no info as to when will these airbags be employed in the company’s production models and what the cars will be getting. We believe that the company will first introduce this technology in its high-end luxury cars and then, it will roll out to the comparatively low-budgeted ones. At a point when one can almost not imagine what additional airbags, Hyundai has indeed thought creatively and its panoramic sunroof airbag can prove a boon in a case when a car topples upside down in case of an accident.
